Project Stratus is a student-led initiative to develop a high-altitude balloon capable of autonomous navigation using reinforcement learning. The balloon collects environmental data and navigates through the stratosphere, contributing to atmospheric research and Earth observation.
The balloon collects data on atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, UV radiation, and geographic positioning. It is also equipped with cameras for visual observation.
Our team is a multidisciplinary group of students passionate about hardware and software development, atmospheric science, and machine learning. We collaborate with experts like Dr. Nitish Mital from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department to enhance our technical capabilities.
Our project combines state-of-the-art technology like reinforcement learning with innovative hardware design to create a sustainable and autonomous balloon system for high-altitude exploration.
We welcome collaborations, feedback, and support from individuals or organisations interested in advancing our mission. You can contact us through our email.
